Protect Your Inner Peace

"Don’t let the behavior of others destroy your inner peace.” ~Dalai Lama

We exist in a world where at some point or another we will have to interact with others. Some people will pour into us and help us to bring out our best, while others will do the opposite. They will for lack of a better phrase, "get on our reserved nerve." When this happens, it can shift us into a less than peaceful place. This is the time when we have to remind ourselves that we are in control and will not "let the behavior of others destroy our inner peace." We have to do all we can to protect our peace, otherwise, it will be at the mercy of others and they will have too much of an influence in dismantling our tranquility.

In a recent situation, I allowed the behavior of another person to ruffle my feathers. This lead to me getting upset with what was happening and as a result, my inner peace was disturbed and I ended up devoting way too much time to the situation. As I reflected, I realized it was a classic case of me allowing the behavior of another to take up more than needed space in my own life. Another gem from the school of life!
