Press Forward In Your Job Search Efforts

The employment landscape has drastically shifted in the past few months due to the pandemic. Here are a few tips in support of your job search and securing your next role.

Keep moving forward in your job search efforts during the summer. If you don’t already have a job search action plan, take the time to create one. This will add focus and structure so you can maximize the time and energy you devote to landing your next job.

Be kind to yourself. Job search is a process that impacts you not only professionally, but personally. Build in time to replenish your mental and physical energy and overall wellbeing

Explore the possibilities. Re-envision what could be your next role. Be flexible, think differently about your next job. Assess your employment history, your transferable skills and strengths to see how you can apply them to a new role, perhaps in a new industry.

Build relationships. Reach out and engage with others. “Make a friend before you need a friend.” Know someone else who is also job searching? Can you serve as connection and support partner for each other?

“Sharpen your saw.” Research job descriptions for roles you are interested in to learn more about desired skills. Assess your own skills to see where you need to upskill or reskill in preparation for your next opportunity.
