I Don’t Have Enough Time…..

We all know the feeling. We want so much more out of our careers and lives, however, it doesn’t seem that there is enough time in the day. I’ve learned a great deal as I juggle my 9-5 job, my career coaching and professional development business (nights and weekend) and enjoying my life. In the area of working with the time I have, I’ve learned to shift to focusing on self-management to make the most of the 24 hours, the 1,440 minutes, and the 86,400 seconds that we are all gifted each day.

Considering that I cannot change the amount of hours in the day, I had to look at what I do have control over, how I manage myself in relation to the set amount of hours I have each day. I had to get really honest with myself about what’s most important and what I’m willing to commit to doing to having the life I want. I had to look at my day-to-day and become more intentional about adding structure and effectively using my time.

Now, I budget time for feeding my soul and personal life, time to work in and on my business, time for family and friends, and time for rest– family and friends know not to call me after 10pm or before 6am. I also make use of my long commuting time on the train and time spent in my car, so if you pull up next to me and see me dancing, it could be during my “me” time. Hey, a girl has to get her dance on!Is my schedule perfect, absolutely not? There are times when I have to flex my schedule, but for the most part, I have become more intentional about how I spend my time and devote my attention and energy. It is said that we make time for what matters most, so I encourage you to take a look at your day/week and see where you can schedule the time to attend to the things that will bring about the change you desire in your career and life.
